I would say that the retail price is a bit high for what you get. I recommend getting a Corolle Poupette for around $20. Poupette is a French Doll that comes in a darker skin tone as well and is simply adorable starting at 18 month. I have seen bargains online and in specialty stores for as low as $15. I like the fact that the Corolle doll is light and easy to carry. The plastic is pvc-free vinyl- which is a big plus and worth recognizing that the company is straightforward and open about the material choice.
I started this blog when I was a graduate student at MIT Sloan with a 13 month old girl and later pregnant with my second. I post about toys and gears that worked for then my two children. I am an engineer so I care on science and engineer learning for my kids. I check and clear the reviewed item with the government recall website. I also check for material safety. I do no receive any toys or payment, this is my opinion based on my kids experience.
First Toddler Dolls - Little Mommy BY Fisher Price and Poupette by Corolle
My toddler girl is not into dolls except for her babicorolle best friend- This was $12 at Costco so I gave it shot. My toddler tried to put on the doll's crocs which was cute then took her on some adventure including feeding and going down the slide. It looks like her quite a bit. But the plastic is not know. It is probably PVC so I would make sure the little one is done teething! See info here.
