I am trying very hard to focus on heirloom quality purchases and edit away clutter and junk.
Slowly, I want to edit away disposable things: things that are fashion forward, poorly made, will not last long and can only go through one use: I have been inspired by this post by Muffy Aldrich. Her approach made so much sense to me and felt just right to me.
Here is an impossible mission: find a way to store toy in a soft container that is not plastic, is easy to use by toddlers and preferably made in the USA or durable material. I ma looking to tug them under a bench in the living room.
I like the canvas basket at Land's End but would much prefer them to be made in US (made in Maine!) like the LL Bean boat and tote. One simple reason if that push come to shove, I know that the LL bean version does not bleed colors in a wash but I know the hard way the Land's end version did.
I own but do not like the Dwell Studio Small bin: I can see why this model seems to be discontinued now: too flimpsy, weird coated material that does not wash or breathe. I wish LL Bean would make baskets, made in Maine again.
The most effective shape is the tapered bin: this version at Target has a lot of quality (perfect dimensions, handles, light) but not quality (cheap fabric on cardboard)

LL Bean made canvas totes for storage a few years ago. I bought rectangle ones in 2005/06 and the round ones in 2009. You might find some on auction sites.
Thanks for your note, yes, I looked for these bins and even asked LL Bean but without luck. Land's end makes some now and I have an earlier version from Land's end that are not so great (floppy and shapeless). I ended up choosing the tote made in maine vs the new imported version from Land's end.
